The NSFW settings can be changed to access or block NSFW content, which is what this article will discuss. We’ll then walk you through accessing an NSFW Discord channel after that.

What does NSFW on Discord mean, do you know? If you have a channel on your Discord server where users share explicit content and/or use profanity, you must designate that channel as NSFW (not suitable for work).

Marking a Discord channel as NSFW is a requirement if you want to share this kind of explicit content and use profanity in the conversation. And I’ll show you how to create an NSFW channel on Discord mobile in this article.

How to Access NSFW Content on Discord IOS?

Users must only post adult content to channels with a set age limit in accordance with Discord’s Community Guidelines. This regulation requires moderators to take down confronting content that has been posted to non-NSFW channels in an effort to stop children from accessing it.

To access an age-restricted server, you need to:

1. Be 18 years of age or older
2. Access Discord via a desktop PC, Android mobile device, or the Discord.com web app
3. Opt-in for age-restricted content (on Apple iOS devices)

Note: While NSFW usually stands for “Not Safe for Work”, Discord states that in this context it means “Not Suitable for Wumpus”. The adorable creature known as Wumpus inhabits the servers of Discord and is sensitive to adult material.

Here are the steps to access NSFW channels on discord iOS:

1. On the chat page’s left-hand side, tap the hamburger menu.
2. Activate the server icon on the left side panel.
3. Tap the kebab menu or the server name and press “Create Channel.”
4. On the “Create Channel” page, type the new channel’s name.
5. Tap the circle beside “Text Channel.”
6. By clicking the checkmark icon, you can save the newly created channel.
7. Tap the new channel’s name or swipe left and press “Settings.”
8. Head to the “Privacy & Safety” section and tap the box beside “Age-restricted Channel” to activate it.
9. Press “←” to exit into the You made an NSFW channel.

How to Access NSFW Content If You’re 18 and Still Blocked?

You can contact Discord’s customer support if you’ve just turned 18 and are still being barred from age-restricted servers.

To appeal, you will need:

1. A photo of yourself
2. A picture of your photo ID that includes your date of birth
3. A photo of a piece of paper with your full Discord tag clearly written and your username

Finally, send this data to Discord’s Trust & Safety team. To do so, head to the support page and click Appeals, age update, and other questions under “Report type”.

How to Avoid Adult Content on Discord?

If you’d prefer not to be exposed to NSFW content, Discord makes blocking it simple. To turn on the explicit media filter for direct messages:

1. Click User Settings in Discord by selecting the gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
2. Click Privacy & Safety from the left-hand menu.
3. Select Keep me safe under “Safe direct messaging”.

When this setting is active, Discord will scan all direct messages for explicit content and hide it.

Note: Unfortunately, there is no built-in setting to block NSFW channels if you are over 18. To prevent them from showing up in your channel list, you can mute the channel and hide muted channels. To do this, choose Mute from the context menu when you right-click the server. Hide muted channels can be chosen by right-clicking the server icon once more.

You can create a new Discord channel using the Discord Mobile app, and I’ll show you how to do that right now.

• Launch the Discord Mobile app on your phone first.
• Finding the 3-dot icon now requires a tap. It is located in the upper-right corner.
• Tap a server icon that is present now.
• TEXT CHANNELS and VOICE CHANNELS must now be located in the menu.
• When you do, select the + symbol next to those choices by tapping on them.
• Tap again to give the channel a name.
• To complete the process, tap the white floppy disk icon.
